100 Pledge To Leave The Car

Over 100 people from across the Harrogate area have pledged to leave the car at home at least one day a week as part of Transdev Harrogate & District’s 80-20 Challenge.

Paul Hodgson, H&D’s Marketing & Communications Manager explained “We sent residents living within easy reach of a frequent bus service a ‘Challenge Pack’ containing local bus information and a car sticker and invited them to take up the 80-20 Challenge.

"Basically if we take all the journeys we make around town by car and could make 20% of these by bus, or by walking, we could help to reduce congestion in our town, and our own personal carbon footprints by up to 20%!"

"We’re delighted that in only a few months over 100 people have now pledged on the leavethecar.com website to leave their cars at home at least one day each week.  It’s really encouraging that people are prepared to take such an important step to help their town, which currently has the largest carbon footprint in the region."
